British performance eyewear brand, SunGod, has announced a partnership with London-based cycling team Tekkerz Cycling Charisma, and their founder Alec Briggs. The move made by both sides is a natural continuation of their mission to grow cycling participation and See Better within the sport of bike racing.
Founded by former elite cyclist, Alec Briggs, ‘arguably one of the most influential names in the London cycling scene and one the greatest Crit racers of a generation’, Tekkerz CC combines top talent with the best up-and-coming younger riders to create a part-elite/part-development team that is dominant in the Crit racing scene all over Europe. Alec’s definition of ‘Tekkerz’ is ‘to ride with great skill or efficiency,’ and the team boasts a mixed-gender roster of part-elite and part-development riders.
The Tekkerz brand is also renowned for their sell-out range of eye-catching designs and current apparel includes jerseys, socks, caps and t-shirts. The SunGod partnership opens an opportunity to combine Tekkerz’ colourful charisma with SunGods market leading technology and sustainability credentials.
SunGod’s mission ‘See Better’ has been part of both Tekkerz and founder Alec’s ethos since day one. A South Londoner born and bred, one of Alec’s main aims with Tekkerz CC is to provide a pathway into racing for a younger generation that wouldn’t normally have an entrance into the sport. Alec, alongside the team’s sponsors, funds coaching, equipment and travel to help bring down some of the more expensive barriers that can stand in the way of bike-racing.
Tekkerz aims to have a relatable voice for young cyclists who want to take a different path towards fulfilling their potential on the bike – whatever that may be. Some of the current elite riders include Team GB under-23 representative Amy Perryman, Irish international cyclist Felix English and Team GB Paralympic silver medallist Jenny Holl.
David Rogal, Head of Partnerships at SunGod said: “This is a really exciting partnership for the SunGod team. Alec and Tekkerz are renowned for doing things differently and the ethos behind their team is really attractive to us. We look forward to collaborating with the team on some incredibly exciting plans.”
Alec Briggs, founder of Tekkerz CC, said: “Our mission to inject energy back into cycling and encourage younger cyclists to get on their bike perfectly aligns with those of SunGod and we’re delighted to work alongside such a disruptive brand. SunGod are now industry leaders who are redefining quality and sustainability and we can’t wait to show the world what we’ve got planned.”
