The Tour of Africa, sponsored by Giant & Liv, is under way with six new virtual routes in southern Africa, four races and two group rides, on the ROUVY virtual cycling platform.
The virtual route takes in Namibia, South Africa and Lesotho – with deserts, steep mountain passes and rugged coastlines. ROUVY notes that the six new virtual routes feature:
- Sani Pass, the mother of all passes, hosting the highest pub in Africa
- Lesotho Highlands, traveling through history
- Cape Point, historic taste of a world class event
- Tankwa Karoo, the King of the Gravels
- Moonlight Desert of Sossusvlei
- Cederberg Mountains, Home of the Rooibos
“We believe that the incredible partnership that has been forged with ROUVY provides exposure and will eventually lead to increased tourism to our beautiful country,” says the project founder and director, Bianca Le Roux.
“South Africa, and her surroundings, inspire potential visitors to include us on their bucket list of travels, one day.
Racing started on March 2nd, with subsequent races on March 4th, 5th, 9th, 11th and 12th.
