British Cycling has kicked off its search for a new Head of Performance Pathways, as current incumbent Tom Stanton prepares to depart the organisation to take up a new role in motor sport.
Stanton will leave in the coming months after five years in the role. Applications for the role are now open. British Cycling notes that… ‘passionate candidates are sought to lead our renowned pathways team, which nurtures and develops the best of British talent and supports their progression to competing at the highest level.’
Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT) Performance Director, Stephen Park CBE said “Tom has enjoyed two stints at British Cycling, initially working with the education team before moving into Paralympic coaching, working with Paralympic champions such as Lora Fachie, Corinne Hall and Mark Colbourne.
“In his current role he has been hugely valuable in championing the development of talented riders through the pathway, in an ever-changing landscape. I wish him all the best with his next move and am now looking forward to speaking to candidates who are passionate about shaping the best riders in the world and helping us deliver the best possible team at the LA Olympics and beyond.”
Tom Stanton, outgoing GBCT Head of Performance Pathway, said “When I took the role of Head of Performance Pathways for GBCT, my key goals were to improve the links between the talent and performance sides of the programme internally, while making the programme externally more open and accessible to up and coming talent across the country.
“I leave British Cycling with a real sense that, while there is always more work to be done, real progress has been made in these areas of which I am incredibly proud.”
