Final Surge has introduced the latest version of its app, v4.0, with the platform redesigned and including features and visual enhancements that are aimed at elevating the training experience for athletes and coaches.
Final Surge is an online training platform for athletes, coaches, teams, and clubs. The Final Surge web app, plus iOS and Android mobile apps, help to track and analyze running, cycling, and triathlon training. Existing features include: coach/athlete communication, planning future workouts, executing training plans, and monitoring effort and performance while avoiding injury. Final Surge also imports workout and GPS data from popular fitness devices.
A number of new features can be found in Final Surge v4.0.
Apple Health + Watch integration
The redesigned Final Surge app introduces integration with Apple Health and Apple Watch. This feature lets users connect their Apple Health data directly to Final Surge, synchronizing training workouts and health metrics, including sleep data, resting heart rate, HRV (Heart Rate Variability), and more.
Users can also send planned, structured workouts to their Apple Watch for real-time coaching within their run and bike workouts.
Drag & drop workouts
With the new drag-and-drop feature, users can move workouts within the app. This is done by holding down to select a workout to move in the weekly calendar view and dragging it to the desired location.
Dark theme
Final Surge now offers a Dark Theme mode and icon. This feature can be activated within the app’s ‘User Preferences’ settings, allowing users to choose between a dark or light Final Surge theme and icon for their home screen.
Custom text size
In User Preferences users can choose from small to large text sizes or match the text size to their device’s settings for optimal readability.
Home screen widgets
Final Surge widgets can be added to a home screen to stay up-to-date with a training schedule. Users can choose from widgets displaying today’s workout, workout history, or both, for at-a-glance convenience.
Labels & date ranges
A calendar can be further organised by creating and applying labels for a single day or a selected date range. This feature is for periodization, injury recovery, vacation planning, or mesocycle focus. (A mesocycle typically refers to four to six week blocks within a macrocycle and are typically referred to as ‘blocks’.)
New coach updates
In addition to the updates for athletes, Final Surge is offering some of its web features for coaches on its mobile platforms. Coaches can now apply, shift, or remove training plans, access the Athlete’s Notebook, edit structured workout settings, adjust hidden date ranges, and lock an athlete’s calendar, making training planning, performance analysis, and communication more accessible.
“We are committed to continuously improving our platform to meet the evolving needs of athletes and coaches. The redesigned Final Surge app, along with the new integration of Apple Health and Watch, is a significant step forward in providing a comprehensive training experience for all of our users.,” said Tim Surface, Co-Founder of Final Surge.
