‘Future-friendly’ Angel Revo saddle scoops 2023 Taipei Cycle d&i Award

Taipei Cycles has announced Velo Saddles and its new ‘future-friendly’ Angel Revo saddle as a winner in the 2023 Taipei Cycle d&i Awards: Parts and Components category.

The Taipei Cycle d&i Awards were launched 11 years ago to celebrate design and innovation accomplishments in the cycling industry.

The awards are presented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA), implemented by International Forum Design (iF). The official awards ceremony took place during the pre-show press conference of the TAIPEI CYCLE 2023 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on March 21st.

The awards recognised the Angel Revo from Velo Saddles, which was launched in October 2022 as the first to feature nitrogen-infused AtmosFoam. This helps to eliminates the need for chemical additives, with the company presenting the saddle as a more future-friendly product.

The Angel Revo also introduces Velo’s new EuphoraBase shell, a non-petroleum-based hybrid bioplastic using plant-based materials and glass fibre. In addition, its Omni saddle cover utilizes recycled knitted fabric instead of microfiber substrates.

The AtmosFoam is a nitrogen-infused foam designed to enhance performance and durability while minimizing environmental impact. AtmosFoam is lightweight and provides support for the rider’s sit bones, improving comfort and performance.

Velo Saddles adds that including nitrogen in the foaming process results in a lighter, more responsive foam compared to other compounds with finer pore structures.

This process distributes the microcells more evenly, providing consistent rebound and shock-absorbing capabilities. It also offers lower thermal conductivity, keeping contact with the saddle cooler in hotter weather conditions.

Blending popular features from its Senso TT and Angel TT performance saddles, the Angel Revo includes Velo’s patented pressure relief Y-Cutout. The saddle features the longest cut-out of previous models, providing enhanced comfort for long rides. Atmos Shaping technology is also used, which combines the saddle cover and the base without a visible seam, making it 100% waterproof.

The Angel Revo is available with titanium rails for US$125 and is 248mm long and 148mm wide.
