HYROX, ‘the World Series of Fitness Racing’, and GORUCK a veteran-owned manufacturer of equipment and rucksacks, have announced a US$10,000 prize purse for the new GORUCK Division. The division will feature in the upcoming HYROX North American Championship race held in Washington DC on March 2, 2024.
HYROX is a competitive indoor fitness race, which consists of 8 rounds of a 1km run and a functional fitness workout.
GORUCK has been a partner of HYROX since the start of the 2022-23 season with the introduction of the GORUCK weighted vest division in which participants complete the standard HYROX race whilst wearing a GORUCK weighted vest (20lbs male, 14lbs female).
‘The GORUCK division invites athletes to challenge their mental and physical capabilities in the most testing version of the HYROX format. All participants in the GORUCK division receive an offer to purchase the vest they competed in for 50% off the regular RRP of the vest.’
This year, for the first time – alongside the HYROX Open US Major Championships, the HYROX Open North American Championships and the HYROX North American Doubles Championships – the GORUCK division will award its own North American Championship title and prize money in the male and female category:
1st Place – US$3,000 & HYROX North American GORUCK Champion
2nd Place – US$1,500
3rd Place – US$500
Jimi Letchford, President of GORUCK, said “This is an exciting partnership for us that has only grown since we first created the GORUCK division.
“It’s a fantastic celebration of the grit and determination of the athletes competing who mirror the values we hold strongly to as a brand. It’s a unique race format and one which we look forward to seeing continue to grow.”
Douglas Gremmen, Managing Director at HYROX USA, added “For the past year we have seen so many amazing individuals take on the HYROX GORUCK Division. Racing HYROX in a GORUCK is reserved for unique individuals and creates memorable stories for those people willing to push their physical and mental boundaries.”
