SFuels delivering end-to-end nutrition sponsorship at Catalina Island Marathon

As part of a new nutrition sponsorship, SFuels will provide electrolyte drinks at all water stations on the 2023 Hi-Tec Run Catalina series Catalina Island Marathon route, as well as the 10K course and finish line.

SFuels’ LIFE bars will also be available at packet pick up, and the brand’s Keto3 breakfast cereal and LIFE Bars will be available on race morning, on March 11, 2023, at the event pier area.

Participants must travel to the start line via boat, departing at 05:00 PT to reach the other side of the island. This year, SFuels will be providing its cereal products for breakfast as the runners board the boat, allowing them a chance to fuel up on the journey before they begin their race back across the island on foot.

“We have used various products on the courses for Run Catalina, but this will be the first time that a partner can deliver a complete meal and nutrition program to our runners, from packet pick up, to the morning boat, to refuelling on the course.” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces the Run Catalina series.

“SFuels will help us deliver an essential element of our runner experience by placing solid nutrition throughout the course.”

Leighton Phillips, owner and developer of SFuels, said “The Catalina Island Marathon is one of the most unique trail races in the country, and this special setting and experience deserves a special fuelling program that really delivers.

“We’re proud to partner with Run Catalina to ensure their runners have a great race day from start to finish.”

The Catalina Island Marathon is billed as California’s oldest trail marathon and will celebrate its 46th anniversary this year.

Participants will begin the race in Two Harbors, a small community on the far side of the island. From there, they will traverse the island on dirt roads and trails heading back to Avalon. With a net elevation gain of over 4300 feet, the course offers sweeping vistas, ocean views, and the occasional sighting of an American Bison.

The first event in the 2023 Hi-Tec Run Catalina series, the Avalon Benefit 50-miler and 50K, saw trail runners, walkers and hikers head to Catalina Island, southwest of Los Angeles, CA, on January 7, 2023.

Following the Catalina Island Marathon this March, Run Catalina will host the Catalina Island Half Marathon on November 11. Participants can earn the Catalina Island Triple Crown belt buckle by completing all three events in the series within a 12-month period. No additional registration fee is required.
