Toshiba adds TV eye to Norseman extreme triathlon

Toshiba TV is partnering with extreme triathlon, the Norseman, which is held in Norway annually on the first weekend in August.

Dubbed as one of the toughest triathlons in the world, the race starts with a jump from a ferry, with athletes from around the world plunging into an icy cold Norwegian fjord. The first 160 athletes to reach the cut-off 5km before the finish line are all left with the same trophy: a black t-shirt.

The race comprises of a 3,800m swim in the cold, deep waters of the Hardangerfjord, followed by a 180km cycle route through the rugged Norwegian landscape, then rounded off with a 42km marathon run. When athletes cross the finish line, they have climbed an impressive 5,000m of altitude.

David Flintoft, Sales & Marketing Director at Toshiba TV, said “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon because it embodies the very essence of what our brand stands for – seeing is believing.

“The Norseman Triathlon is not just a race; it’s an experience like no other and you really have to see it with your own eyes to witness the beauty and intensity of this legendary race.”

Norseman is a point-to-point race; from Eidfjord on the West Coast, to the finish line on Mount Gaustatoppen in the East. The race finishes at the rocky pinnacle of Norseman’s Rock, offering panoramic vistas, where athletes are greeted by the sound of Viking horns and the cheers from family, friends, and fans.

Hårek Stranheim, General Manager of Norseman, added “Toshiba TV is the ideal partner for us. Norseman is the perfect platform to inspire people, and it’s very effective to use our race to demonstrate what ordinary people can achieve if they go all in.
“The human body has enormous potential. It’s important to tell that story. Our event is also a visual race; bringing Norseman content to life with Toshiba TV is amazing.”
