After eight days of intense indoor cycling competition, the first MyWhoosh Championship with its record-breaking US$1m prize pool has drawn to a close.
According to MyWhoosh… ‘The event showcased some truly inspiring racing, from friends and families teaming up for the win, to new mother, Jacqui Giuliano, making her mark in the women’s championship just months after giving birth.
‘In Category 2, 17-year-old Cam Winfield held his own as he competed with his father’s friends, riding flat out to take home the under-23 Youth prize. In the end, the record-breaking $1m prize pool was distributed to some very worthy winners.’
Category winners included:
- Michael Vink (Winner in Category 1)
- Cam Winfield (Youth winner in Category 2)
- Michael Phillips (Winner in Category 3)
- Karl Tiselius (Sprint winner in Category 3)
- Ella Vink (Winner in Category 4)
“The standard of competition was extremely high, and every race was a battle,” said Michael Vink, UAE Team Emirates rider and winner of the MyWhoosh Championship. “I really had to dig deep to get some of those wins and am extremely proud of the effort that the UAE Clan Team and I sustained throughout the eight days.
“I hope MyWhoosh makes this a regular event – the rivalry, the teamwork, the strategies, and tactics all made for an incredible few day. I’d love to get the chance to do it all over again.”
