fizik and PEdALED, which are both part of the Selle Royal Group, have unveiled a new collaboration to produce the Ergolace GTX PEdALED x fizik shoe.
The shoe is a reimagined, special edition of fizik’s Ergolace GTX – a rugged, versatile, weatherproof trail shoe with a GORE-TEX outer.
Utilizing PEdALED’s design expertise, the Ergolace GTX PEdALED x fizik shoe features a dark red colourway… ‘allowing bikepackers to stand out from the crowd.’
With the Ergolace GTX’s use of GORE-TEX configuration, the shoe features a triple-layered, waterproof and breathable membrane: adding protection from the elements and helping to keep feet dry.
The hard-wearing ripstop woven fabric uppers resist abrasion and tearing while a PU-laminated toecap and side reinforcements add further protection and durability. For increased comfort, the Ergolace GTX pattern cradles the foot, securing the fit with an ergonomic lace-up closure.
With RRP of £200 / US$220 / €210, fizik designed the Ergolace GTX specifically to reduce bulk and avoid the puffy look of other mountain biking shoes… ‘meaning they’re ready to blend back into society when the backcountry missions are over.’
Engineered to deliver a balance between efficient pedalling performance and comfort off the bike, the X2 outsole helps riders when taking on hike-a-bike moments. A compressed EVA midsole provides stability and cushioning while the Vibram rubber tread ensures grip and traction.
The directional lug pattern is designed for confident footing; with spacing and depth to grip softer soil. fizik adds that the shoe is made from a unique compound that helps to grip slick rocks while hiking.
The X2 also features an extended cleat track which provides more setback and greater flexibility of cleat placement.
