The Arena Games Triathlon Powered by Zwift returns for 2023 – with elite athletes facing off at three venues in Montreal, Canada; Sursee, Switzerland; and London, UK.
To celebrate its partnership with Super League Triathlon, Zwift is hosting a community race series in the build-up to the start of the events.
Starting on February 20th and running for four weeks, the Super League Triathlon Arena Games Race Series looks to mimic the short and deceivingly hard efforts of the Arena Games with a triple event format – 3 x 15 minute races back-to-back-to-back.
Zwift adds… ‘It will be sure to get your heart rate racing and your legs screaming in no time. The efforts will yield great benefits to your training. Ride and run events are on different days, so you can mix up your efforts.’
Super League Triathlon’s Arena Games powered by Zwift is an innovative new esports format consisting of run and bike legs on the Zwift virtual training and racing app, coupled with swimming in a pool.
The event aims to provide an immersive viewing experience that allows fans to get up close and personal with some of the best triathletes in the world.
For the first Arena Games in Montreal, local Canadian hero, Lionel Sanders will be competing. Better known in long course triathlon, rather than short course racing, Sanders is noted for his indoor training on Zwift and has extensive experience competing on the platform. He even took a surprise win against Mathieu van der Poel and his Alpecin-Fenix team in an exhibition event in 2020.
