Audio technology company Shokz has unveiled its latest innovation: the OpenFit true wireless earbuds. Claimed to provide a superior audio experience without compromising comfort, the earbuds boast an open-ear design that allows the listener to stay connected to their surroundings.
Unlike traditional earbuds that isolate users from their surroundings, Shokz OpenFit is designed to let ambient sound in, enabling wearers to have conversations and maintain an awareness of their environment. The earbuds are available in black or beige, and retail at £179.
OpenFit’s DirectPitchTM technology allows sound waves to enter the ear naturally, eliminating the need to push in an earbud or cover the outer ear. This feature, Shokz claims, ensures a truly immersive listening experience.
The OpenFit earbuds feature an ultra-soft double-layered silicone design that moulds to the contours of the ears, providing a seamless fit, and the Dolphin Arc Ear Hook ensures a secure and stable fit, preventing the earpieces from slipping out during intense workouts or active routines. Shokz says the lightweight construction and balanced weight distribution of the earbuds offer freedom of movement and long-lasting comfort.
The Shokz OpenBassTM algorithm enhances low-frequency vibrations directly into the ear, with the aim of creating a rich and natural listening experience at any volume. Customised dynamic drivers, equipped with an ultra-light composite diaphragm made from carbon fibre and a polymer surround, deliver accurate acoustic vibrations and deep bass notes, immersing users in their music.
The earbuds allow 7 hours of listening time on a single full charge and a protective charging case that extends it to 28 hours. A quick 5-minute charge is claimed to provide one hour of battery life. The earbuds also feature an IP54 water resistance rating and a dual noise-cancelling microphone for call clarity.
The OpenFit earbuds weigh 8.3g, along with a magnetic charging case weighing 57g. The package includes the OpenFit earbuds, a USB-C charging cable, the Shokz app for personalized settings, and a 2-year warranty.
