Sunday, January 28, 2024 sees the inaugural Dry January 10k head to Pippingford Park, West Sussex, in southern England. In partnership with Alcohol Change UK, runners are encouraged to swap their bar tab for a run bib to embark on an alcohol-free month culminating in a 10K trail run.
The trail run meanders through parkland and lakes on the Ashdown Forest in the heart of Sussex. Participants in the event pledge to see out 31 days alcohol-free in the month of January.
Ollie Ollerton, who presents popular UK reality television show ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’, said “We are so excited to bring this event to Pippingford in the New Year.
“By combining the physical trial of a 10k run with the mental challenge of Dry January, this is an experience that delivers real, long lasting change. It’s not just about fitness, it’s about fortitude.”
Co-founder and brainchild of Dry January 10k, Dean Newman, said “Alcohol is the backdrop to our lives, we celebrate with it, we mourn with it. But when do we ask ourselves, what is this doing to me?
“We have created this event to help people take control and find freedom – whether it be the physical challenge of a 10k or the mental commitment to stay alcohol free. Ultimately, it’s about taking back the power and breaking away from dependency.”
