Boston Triathlon in multi-year wellbeing tie-up with Human Powered Health

Wellness and performance testing company Human Powered Health has entered into a multi-year partnership with the Boston Triathlon as the event’s Official Wellness and Performance Partner.

Held on August 17-18, 2024, the 16th edition of the Boston Triathlon is a weekend-long event that includes Kids Day at the Boston Tri, the Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon (Olympic and sprint distance races), and supertri Boston.

“Human Powered Health and the Boston Triathlon have a shared vision about human wellness and performance,” said Michael O’Neil, President of the Boston Triathlon.

“It is lucky for us and our athletes that they now have two incredible state-of-the-art facilities in Massachusetts. Part of our mission has always been to make sure everyone involved in the Boston Triathlon – athletes, kids, spectators, volunteers – cares about their overall wellness and their athletic performance. We are excited to let our community know about this valuable resource for taking control of your health.”

O’Neil continued, “It is great to see that Human Powered Health is also bringing important science to this year’s race by providing race participants with free hydration testing and a performance physiologist to answer questions.

“Human Powered Health understands people at all levels of fitness, and their free tests will be a great perk for Boston Triathlon participants who want to ensure they are in peak condition to compete in the races.”

Human Powered Health’s master’s and PhD-level physiologists work with individuals at all levels of fitness to understand their bodies and achieve their individual performance goals. The company’s team will be onsite at the Boston Triathlon Athlete Village offering free consultations, hydration tests, a giveaway and more for all race participants.

“As we continue to work with athletes and health-conscious individuals to help them improve their performance, Boston represents a highly anticipated expansion for us,” said Dan Cohen, Chief Performance Officer of Human Powered Health.

“We are thrilled to welcome the vibrant Boston community into our performance lab on Newbury Street, as well as our newly-opened flagship location in Wellesley. We are excited to build inroads with the triathlon and endurance community by partnering with the Boston Triathlon.”

David Wichmann, former CEO of UnitedHealth Group and Co-Founder of Human Powered Health, will participate in the Boston Triathlon as an athlete, alongside the company’s partnership with the event. He will be part of a triathlon relay team that includes Jeremy Swayman, the goalie for the NHL’s Boston Bruins.

The weekend-long Boston Triathlon is expected to bring thousands of participants to the Boston waterfront for two days of races for kids, adults, relay teams, and Olympic triathletes. The Boston Triathlon includes a swim that takes place at Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Carson Beach, a bike ride on DCR William Day Boulevard, and a run in South Boston.

Boston Triathlon participants and fans will have the opportunity to watch the fastest elite and Olympic triathletes compete as part of supertri Boston, the last event of the weekend.

This season opener of the supertri series will include a live, global TV broadcast, giving the world a chance to see top athletes race in Boston. supertri is expanding to North America, hosting two new events in the USA as part of its five-stop league. These supertri events will draw some of the world’s top triathletes to compete in fast, technical, and tactical racing just weeks after the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris.
