Santini Cycling has introduced new items in its collection to celebrate L’Eroica, the vintage-themed cycling event that is set on the white roads of Siena, Italy.
L’Eroica was born in 1997 in Gaiole in Chianti, Italy. Set in central Italy’s Tuscany region, L’Eroica mixes up wool jerseys and vintage bicycles but also modern bikes and gear.
The 2023 event reported 8,300 cyclists across the event weekend. This year’s event is set to take place on October 5-6, 2024.
The ‘new retro line’ from Santini includes wool and technical fabric garments, accessories, and a range of casual t-shirts and sweatshirts.
As a partner of L’Eroica since 2015, Santini adds that it is celebrating the event’s 2024 edition by blending the essence of past cycling with modern innovations.
‘This exclusive clothing line is designed for enthusiasts who wish to relive the sensations of vintage cycling.’
The collection consists of four lines: Original Wool, Modern Wool, Technical Garments, and Casual, and includes ‘Eroica Approved’ garments, the official apparel allowed during the event.
Original Wool & Modern Wool Collection
Santini Cycling offers garments entirely made of wool, seen as ideal for retro cycling enthusiasts. The new jerseys, Gaiole and Vino, alongside the Spazio jersey already present in the 2023 collection, feature vintage details such as mother-of-pearl buttons on the back pockets and metal zippers, recalling the classic style of old cycling uniforms.
Wool jerseys are ‘Eroica Approved’ and can be worn during Eroica events. The modern wool garments from Santini are made from a mix of merino wool and polyester, making them more similar to modern microfiber garments but with a blend of tradition and technology.
Technical Garments Collection
The Technical Garments collection features microfibre garments for both men and women, combining aesthetics and functionality. In addition to the existing jerseys in the collection, Santini has added two more jerseys, Giove and Sera, offering breathability and comfort.
The Sera bib shorts are made of compressive fabric and are equipped with the GITevo chamois, designed to ensure comfort during long distances.
Casual Collection
Santini has created a casual line that includes a grey hoodie, two viscose t-shirts, and crewneck sweatshirts available in three colours… ‘for those who want to add a touch of cycling style to their everyday wardrobe.’
