Expanded partnership for IRONMAN and Precision Fuel & Hydration

IRONMAN and Precision Fuel & Hydration (PF&H) have confirmed an extension and expansion of their partnership into 2025, including the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Taupo, New Zealand this coming December.

Precision Fuel & Hydration will continue as the official hydration partner for the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 European Triathlon Series and will extend its support to IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events in South Africa and Oceania.

Since getting on board as a partner in May this year, Precision Fuel & Hydration has provided its PH 1000 electrolyte drink to athletes at over 40 IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 races in Europe, including the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Nice.

PH 1000 electrolyte drink will be available on-course at all 2025 IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events in Europe, South Africa and Oceania, inclusive of the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Taupo, New Zealand this coming December, the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Spain and the 2025 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France.

PH 1000 is designed to enable athletes to pull on two of the ‘three levers‘ of endurance sports nutrition (fluid and sodium), with the third lever (carbohydrate) being delivered through a selection of energy products and snacks, including Maurten, that will sit alongside PH 1000 on course.

According to IRONMAN and Precision Fuel & Hydration (PF&H), this ‘decoupling’ of fuelling and hydration can be beneficial during longer endurance races.

The low-calorie PH 1000 is a high electrolyte drink containing around twice the amount of sodium of typical sports drinks. It is part of PF&H’s range of hydration products designed to enable athletes to personalize their hydration strategy, which is seen as important each athlete loses a different amount of sodium in their sweat.

PH 1000 is designed to meet the needs of the average athlete, who loses around 950mg of sodium per litre of sweat, according to thousands of sweat tests conducted by PF&H. The product is Informed Sport Certified and has a mild-citrus flavour helping to reduce flavour fatigue on long training and race days.

“Having raced IRONMAN triathlons as a pro back in the early 2000s, I’m delighted that PF&H is continuing as an official partner and that we were able to expand our support to more triathletes around the world,” said PF&H’s CEO Andy Blow.

“It was my own experiences with hydration and cramping issues in races such as Kona and Nice that led to the founding of our business back in 2011 and we’ve been helping athletes get ‘the fourth discipline’ right at IRONMAN events ever since.”

Matthieu Van Veen, Chief Business Officer at IRONMAN, said “We are really happy to have Precision Fuel & Hydration as a partner.

“The response from athletes who raced our European IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons this year has been fantastic, so we’re delighted to be able to roll out their products and advice to athletes racing in Oceania and South Africa as well. Through this partnership, we hope to encourage our athletes to take a personalized approach to their hydration strategy on race day, helping them perform and feel their best.”

As well as providing IRONMAN triathlon participants with on-course hydration, all 2025 IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events in Europe, Oceania and South Africa will soon be added to PF&H’s free Fuel & Hydration Planner, enabling athletes to get personalized advice for their event.

Athletes will also be able to book free video consultations to get their race nutrition questions answered by PF&H’s dedicated athlete support team.

Athletes registered for IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 races in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will also receive an exclusive offer from PF&H to enable them to test the on-course hydration product in training.

Precision Fuel & Hydration is used by elite IRONMAN triathletes, including Emma Pallant-Browne, Ellie Salthouse, Leon Chevalier, Fenella Langridge and Jason West, to name a few.
