Sunday, July 23, 2024 saw Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee take place in the Austrian Alps. In addition to amateur age group athletes, the elite field featured 20 professional women and 44 professional men.
Despite low cloud obscuring the surrounding mountains, there was no wind, helping to provide calm conditions in the swim. The event in Austria saw a maiden win for Panagiotis Bitados (GRE) as he crossed the line in first place in 3:41:42 after a blistering 1:09:24 run. Julie Derron (SUI) took her second win of the year in 4:03:38 with the next race on her schedule, the Olympics in Paris.
