The Lone Star state and The Woodlands, Texas, played host to the 2024 IRONMAN North American Championship on April 27, 2024.
Part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, and doubling as the second event of the IRONMAN Pro Series, the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN North American Championship Texas event was the first full-distance IRONMAN triathlon of the new IRONMAN Pro Series in 2024.
History was made in Texas as Tomas Rodriguez Hernandez (MEX) stormed to victory in a time of 07:42:38, and Kat Matthews overcame a five-minute penalty to take the tape in a staggering 8:42:22.
With Rodriguez Hernandez’s outstanding day, he became the first Mexican pro triathlete to win an IRONMAN event and also qualify for the IRONMAN World Championship.
