IRONMAN has confirmed that it will once again host an event in southwestern Idaho – with the return of the IRONMAN 70.3 Boise triathlon on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Boise originally hosted an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon from 2008 to 2015, and the announcement of its return brings a popular northwest USA venue back to the IRONMAN 70.3 racing circuit. General registration for the 2025 event opens on September 16, 2024.

With many of the same course elements that existed in the original event, we believe the IRONMAN 70.3 Boise triathlon will once again be one of the most popular events on the circuit and attract a whole new generation to racing in this truly special northwest destination.

Nicknamed ‘The City of Trees’ and situated on the Boise River in southwestern Idaho, Boise is the capital and largest city in the state. Framed by foothills, Boise offers extensive outdoor recreation opportunities including 25 miles of tree-lined greenbelt trails along the river.
Home to Boise State University located just south of downtown, the city offers an arts and culture scene, numerous dining and entertainment options, with the Boise Airport conveniently just three miles from the city centre.
Surrounded by the Boise Mountains, the IRONMAN 70.3 Boise race will kick off in the waters of Lucky Peak Reservoir, with a 1.2-mile swim starting and finishing in the Barclay Bay area.
Once out of the water, athletes will head to transition 1 located at the Barclay Bay Parking Area. Athletes will be greeted with a sweeping downhill ride upon exiting the Lucky Peak Reservoir area to start their 56-mile cycling journey through the region.
Athletes can expect a rolling, scenic tour of rural Boise roads and neighbourhood streets before ending their bike journey with a downtown finish at transition 2.
The popular Boise River Greenbelt Trail will play host to the IRONMAN 70.3 Boise run course. The flat, two-loop, 13.1-mile course, will feature shade and spectators as athletes wind along the Boise River to complete their journey in downtown Boise.
The 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Boise triathlon will offer qualifying slots to the 2026 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon.
