Registration has opened for the 16th edition of the Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon, which will be held on August 17-18, 2024.
For the first time, the event’s organiser, ethos, notes that… ‘Registration for Boston’s only triathlon will also include best-in-class options around refunds, transfers, and deferral policies to make the process more athlete-friendly.’
“We’re excited to be rolling out these new policies that set the standard for what triathlons can do for its community,” said Michael O’Neil, President of the Boston Triathlon. “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to provide our athletes with the premier experience when they compete in Boston.”
Effective immediately, the new policies include:
- The ability to receive a full refund minus the administrative fees, defer registration to next year’s event, or transfer entry to another athlete for a small fee, if registered by March 17th, 2024.
- The option to defer to 2025 or transfer entry to another athlete if registered by July 8, 2024.
The transfer policy allows athletes to transfer their bib to a co-worker, friend, family member, or training partner for a US$40 administrative fee.
“We’re especially happy to give athletes the options they need to plan ahead,” added O’Neil. “We are constantly talking with and listening to our athletes. In discussions over the last few months, we heard they want and need more flexibility when registering for races.
“Now they can register early, take advantage of our best pricing, start training, and rest assured that if something changes in their life, they won’t be penalized if they can’t participate in this year’s race.”
Registration changes do not require documentation, and all registration changes must be submitted by July 9, 2024.
The event includes both Olympic and sprint distance races. The swim takes place at Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Carson Beach. The bike section includes DCR William Day Boulevard, followed by a run in South Boston.
In addition to the adult races, on Sunday, August 18, Kids Day at the Boston Tri will take place on Saturday, August 17 featuring a host of activities designed to inspire a future generation of triathletes.
