Abu Dhabi Sports Council, organiser of the UAE Tour Women, has confirmed the full list of teams participating in the second edition of the only UCI Women’s World Tour race in the Middle East. From February 8-12, 2024, 20 teams of six riders each (13 UCI Women’s World Teams and seven UCI Women’s Continental Teams) will race on the roads of the Middle East country.
Many of the world’s best riders are expected to participate in the UAE Tour Women, incuding the 2023 edition winner Elisa Longo Borghini. Second and third placed in 2023, Gaia Realini and Silvia Persico, are also expected at the start.
Team SD Worx, winner of the team ranking for the 2023 women’s World Tour, has announced the participation of the world champion Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes, winner of 11 races in the past season including stage 2 of the UAE Tour Women 2023.
Spanish national champion Mavi Garcia, third placed at the Giro d’Italia 2022, will make her debut in the race and will be among the contenders for the red jersey. Among the top sprinters will be Charlotte Kool, winner of stage 4 and the green jersey in 2023, and Chiara Consonni.
