TrainerRoad takes ‘Red Light Green Light’ approach to fatigue management

‘Red Light Green Light’ from TrainerRoad is billed as ‘one of a kind, and the next generation of fatigue management.’ The cycle-coaching platform notes that its new update to Adaptive Training predicts fatigue and burnout before it happens so riders can keep getting faster.

TrainerRoad adds that… ‘It isn’t a readiness score. Red Light Green Light uses AI to understand how you adapt to training at a very deep level, knowing your historical limits, current limits, and potential.

‘It analyzes your actual performance during every ride, then uses its understanding of you to decide how much recovery you need to prevent future burnout and stay consistent. And it even works when you aren’t training indoors. It’ll analyze every ride or race all year, letting you ride how you want while helping you avoid excess fatigue.’

Red Light Green Light is now available for all TrainerRoad athletes. In their calendars, users may now see red and yellow days pop up after training.

  • Yellow Days mean the rider is nearing a point of fatigue that could make training unproductive. If a hard workout is scheduled that day, it will adapt to an ndurance workout.
  • Red Days mean additional training is very likely to lead to burnout and that the rider needs rest. If a workout is scheduled that day, it will adapt to a Rest Day.

The changes suggested to a user’s training show up like normal adaptations, so a user can simply select ‘Accept Adaptations’ after workouts.

TrainerRoad is priced at US$19/month – including features such as Red Light Green Light, AI FTP Detection, Adaptive Training, and rider support,
