International triathlon travel specialist Tri Travel is set to release a limited number of guaranteed entries for the sell-out triathlon event, Escape from Alcatraz (now part of PTO’s T100 Triathlon World Tour).
Set in San Francisco, California, Escape from Alcatraz is one of the world’s most iconic triathlon events, selling out year-on-year, with a reported 10,000 applicants vying for only 2,000 spots, making it a feature on many a triathlete’s ‘bucket list’.
The 2024 edition of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathon takes place on Sunday, June 9th; and, despite the event having sold out, the team at Tri Travel has a limited number of entry-inclusive packages, making it the only tour operator outside of America with access to entries.
Accompanying guaranteed entry to the event, the Tri Travel team has also curated a packaged travel offering. The packages available include hotel accommodation, as well as all logistical and transport bookings, to ensure a seamless travel experience. Bike rental will also be included to save competitors having to negotiate travel with their bikes, and for those that want to make a real trip out of it, a special curated trip to the nearby wine region will be available as an optional extra.
Sarah Boyd, Product Manager at Tri Travel, said “We are thrilled to be working with such a fantastic event, which really helps to showcase the rock-solid connections our team have in the triathlon industry.
“Escape from Alcatraz is arguably one of the most famous triathlons in the world, steeped in history, and a challenge like no other. Our travel packages leave no stone unturned, and our team have selected the very best, and well located hotels to take in every little bit of the action. We’re delighted to work with the organising team at Escape from Alcatraz, and look forward to supporting our customers with everything they need to have a truly unforgettable experience.”
Replicating the infamous prison escapes in modern history, the event starts in the waters off the Alcatraz coastline, with a 1.5 mile/2.4km swim through San Francisco Bay, exiting via Marina Green.
The 18 mile/29km bike course then enjoys some of San Francisco’s sights and sounds, and the 8 mile/12.9km run passes under the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, with the challenges of deep sand and a 400 step sand ladder, before a finish line at Marina Green.
Originally founded in Australia in 2000, Tri Travel is also the official travel partner of Challenge Family.
The travel operator offers a diverse line-up of triathlon, cycling and running event packages, with over 40 middle and long-distance races across 27 countries, organised annually as part of a series.
