As the northern hemisphere indoor riding season approaches, Wattbike has confirmed the launch of two new smartbikes: the Wattbike Proton and Wattbike Air.
Aiming for competitive price points in the increasingly competitive bike trainer and smart bike market, the Wattbike Proton is priced at £1,795, while the Wattbike Air is £1,895.
Proton
Positioned as a versatile smart bike, the Proton leverages a free training app and is targeted at a broader fitness audience. Wattbike research has found that many Wattbikes are used by multiple users at home. For those who share their Wattbike, the range of adjustment makes it easier for different users to hop on and off.

The Wattbike Proton can be extensively adjusted without the use of tools, allowing users to customise their position and optimise their workouts according to their individual training goals.
The Proton supports a broad array of fitness goals, whether they relate to running, cycling, team sports or general cardiovascular fitness. The Proton also integrates with all major apps (including Strava, Rouvy and Zwift).
Specialised training plans and workouts are available through the Wattbike Hub, a subscription-free app for all Wattbike users. Content on the Wattbike Hub has been overhauled as part of the launch, including new workouts tailored for runners and an enhanced user experience.
Stephen Loftus, CEO of Wattbike, said “With the Proton, Wattbike is introducing our proven fitness and training technology to a broader home audience.
“Its quick and easily adjusted features, expanded free Wattbike Hub training app and competitive pricing makes our world-class training more accessible than ever.”
Air
Leveraging the free Wattbike training app, the Air is positioned as a high-intensity training tool for serious fitness enthusiasts.
The Air is built on Wattbike’s air resistance system, a technology that has been tried and tested for over a decade. It can be used by those engaged in team sports, functional fitness enthusiasts, as well asCrossFit enthusiasts seeking to further develop their top-end strength and power. It can also be used for low resistance rehab sessions.

Wattbike notes that the Air has been… ‘Developed to be something you can jump on, workout, and jump off. It connects directly to the subscription-free Wattbike Hub app providing access to hundreds of expert-designed workouts and plans. Developed with world champions and leading gyms, the Hub features high-intensity and strength workouts tailored for maximum performance.’
Stephen Loftus at Wattbike, added “Our research shows that people using air resistance bikes are highly dedicated to their fitness and strength, and the Air gives the opportunity for more people to benefit from this highly effective training in their own homes.
“We haven’t compromised on anything with this bike and we’re all proud to have brought such an effective training tool, including the free Wattbike Hub, to the market at this accessible price point.”
