Blurring lines between jacket and jersey: Castelli’s Do.Di.Ci. jacket is for high-intensity riding in cool, dry conditions

Do.Di.Ci. jacket from Castelli

Castelli has launched a new cycling jacket, the Do.Di.Ci., engineered for optimal breathability and comfort during high-intensity rides in cool yet dry conditions.

The garment, which Castelli describes as blurring the line between a jacket and a jersey, is designed to be worn in temperatures ranging from 8–15°C.

Its name, which translates to ‘twelve’ in Italian, refers to the company’s claim that it evaporates sweat 12 times more effectively than the original Gabba jacket.

Castelli partnered with fabric innovators ITTTAI to develop the jacket’s exclusive Ristretto technology, utilising the company’s membrane and lamination expertise to create a new PFAS-free fabric.

Ristretto technology is designed for conditions where rain protection is not required. The name translates to ‘restricted’ from Italian, indicating that it restricts the amount of air flowing through the fabric to be virtually windproof while still evaporating significantly more sweat than waterproof membranes.

The Do.Di.Ci. claims an air permeability of three cubic feet per minute, making it the most breathable jacket in Castelli’s autumn/fall/winter 2025 range.

Steve Smith, International Brand Manager at Castelli, said “There’s never been a jacket like the Do.Di.Ci.. We see it as the spiritual heir to the Gabba for the way many people use the Gabba.

“The original Gabba was created for professional riders racing in the rain, but given its phenomenal success, we see that many cyclists use it in conditions that it wasn’t designed for: cool and dry.

“While the Gabba R provides the ultimate protection for racing in the rain while being as aerodynamic as a speedsuit – the Do.Di.Ci. excels in high intensity rides in cool dry conditions. When it’s not raining, it cannot be beaten.”

The jacket’s Ristretto fabric is noted for being extremely stretchy, allowing for a close-to-body race fit that does not feel constricting.

The Do.Di.Ci. is available in both men’s and women’s versions, with a short-sleeved men’s option also offered.

Additional features include:

  • Minimalist construction for comfort and speed
  • YKK Vislon zipper
  • Three rear pockets
  • Reflective piping at bottom of pocket

The long-sleeved version is priced at €229.95, USS280.00, and £250.00. The men’s short−sleeved version is priced at €199.95, US240.00, and £220.00.

The men’s jacket is available in four colourways: Rich Red, Ultraviolet, Light Black, and Mocha. The women’s jacket is available in Light Black and Ultraviolet.
