As the clocks go back in the northern hemisphere, for the autumn/fall/winter season Canyon is presenting its smart lighting solutions.
Canyon’s ‘Endless Charge & Lighting Integrated Power System’ (ECLIPS) is presented as a seamlessly integrated light, energy, and design system.
ECLIPS combines a SON hub dynamo, an internally mounted battery and control unit, and two Lupine lights – one for the front and one for the rear.
According to the company, the control unit manages power distribution, keeps light flicker-free even at a standstill, and displays energy use and charge level in the Canyon App. At higher speeds, the dynamo charges the battery; at slower speeds, the battery takes over.
ECLIPS features on selected versions of Canyon’s Grizl CF 9 and Grizl CF 8 gravel bikes, which are described as purpose-built for long distances on various terrain. The Grizl CF 9 with ECLIPS is listed at around £6,599 while the Grizl CF 8 ESC with ECLIPS is listed at around £3,719 (prices found in GBP and Euros are approximations from different international Canyon websites).
Canyon has also integrated illumination technology into five of its bike models across its city/urban, trekking/adventure, gravel, and e-road categories.
The Roadlite:ONfly e-bike, weighing 16.1 kg (size M), features the LightSKIN H2E Flat handlebar with a 150-lumen LED front light built into the bar and a rear light integrated into the seatpost. Both are powered by the main battery and operated via the FAZUA handlebar remote. The Roadlite:ONfly 7 is listed at around £2,649.
In the trekking and adventure line, the Pathlite:ON e-trekking models are built for rides beyond the city limits.
The Pathlite:ONfly 8 features a compact Bosch Performance Line SX motor, which powers the integrated Supernova lighting system and flush-mounted Sate-lite rear lights with a brake signal function. The Pathlite:ONfly 8 LTD is listed at around £2,799.
The Pathlite:ON SUV models, such as the Pathlite:ON 8 SUV, use the Bosch CX motor and a Supernova front light, controllable from the handlebar, while the Sate-lite M15 rear light includes a brake light function. The Pathlite:ON 8 SUV is listed at around £3,249.
In the gravel category, the Grizl:ONfly e-gravel bikes come with fully integrated lighting. The Lupine Nano SL is up front and the Canyon x Lupine SightStays is at the rear. Both are powered directly by the main Bosch e-bike battery.
The Grizl:ONfly CF 9 is listed at around £5,299, while the Grizl:ONfly CF Daily for commuting and adventure is listed at around £4,199.
For e-road performance, the Endurace:ONfly is an E-road bike for long distances and late rides home. It uses a TQ-HPR50 motor and has integrated lighting. At the rear, the Canyon x Lupine SightStay lights are used, while up front, the LightSKIN U1 Ultra headlight with 150 lumens is integrated into the cockpit. The Endurace:ONfly CF 7 is listed at around £5,149.
