DATEV Challenge Roth expands anti-doping testing with NADA Germany

DATEV Challenge Roth and the National Anti-Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) have provided further details about an expanded doping control program at this year’s event.

Held on July 6, 2025, at DATEV Challenge Roth a total of 65 tests were carried out, with all samples returning a negative result for both professional and age group athletes.

NADA Germany was responsible for all testing, with the race organisation providing infrastructure and around a dozen volunteers.

Race Director Felix Walchshöfer said “We asked NADA Germany in advance to explore the possibilities for extended testing. The fact that 65 tests were ultimately carried out sends a strong signal for clean sport. We are very grateful to NADA Germany for this.”

Dr Lars Mortsiefer, Chairman of NADA Germany, said “We would like to thank DATEV Challenge Roth for their excellent and supportive cooperation in promoting honest performance.”

A new Dried Blood Spot test was used for the first time at the event, which is faster and logistically more efficient than traditional blood and urine samples.

In addition to testing, the partnership focused on education. NADA Germany had an information stand at the triathlon expo and published a podcast episode and dedicated information page on the race website to inform athletes about anti-doping issues.
