Fitness race series HYROX has announced a new global partnership with athlete-led charity High Impact Athletes (HIA), launching the ‘Race for Impact’ initiative to enable participants to compete for both personal bests and charitable causes.
Founded by elite athletes, HIA connects the sporting community with charities focused on areas such as global health, climate solutions, women’s empowerment, and mental health.
Until now, its work has focused on Olympians, world champions, and professional athletes. The new initiative marks the first time HIA’s model has been extended to amateur competitors at scale.
Under the partnership, HYROX athletes can purchase discounted charity entry tickets and commit to fundraising for one of HIA’s cause areas. The HIA platform provides tools, guidance, and fundraising support to help participants meet their targets.
The initiative will launch globally at HYROX events from June 25, 2025 – excluding the UK, where HYROX continues its existing partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support. According to HYROX, the UK partnership has raised more than £3.1 million to date.
Moritz Furste, HYROX Co-founder and CMO, said “At HYROX, we’ve always believed that sport has the power to unite and inspire.
“Through ‘Race for Impact,’ we’re giving athletes the chance to do more than race. They can now make a real difference. Whether it’s supporting mental health, addressing climate change, or providing medical support, every step taken is an opportunity to leave an impact.”
Hugo Inglis, Co-founder and Managing Director at High Impact Athletes, added “By joining forces with HYROX, we’re scaling the impact of athlete-led giving to unprecedented heights.
“‘Race for Impact’ will empower hundreds of thousands of athletes worldwide to fund causes they care about. No matter your fitness level, every step, rep and finish line can deliver maximum impact where it’s needed most.”
HYROX expects over 550,000 participants to take part in more than 80 races globally in 2025. If 10% of participants join the initiative, the event organiser noted that the projected impact includes life-saving support for millions of people and the potential to avert up to 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.
