The Louisiana Marathon has announced material sciences multinational Dow as its Official Sustainability Partner for the upcoming race weekend on January 18-19, 2025.
Dow will work with Abita Beer and Coca-Cola Bottling Co United on recycling efforts and promotion environmental responsibility. According to the Louisiana Marathon organising team… ‘This collaborative partnership will ensure comprehensive recycling of aluminium cans and plastic bottles generated throughout the event.’
Dow will provide clearly branded recycling receptacles throughout the marathon venue, encouraging both runners and spectators to properly dispose of recyclable materials. This initiative aims to minimize the event’s environmental footprint and raise awareness about the importance of recycling.
Refreshments from both Abita Beer and Coca-Cola, including Abita’s canned beers and Coca-Cola products such as Dasani, Powerade, Core Power, and Coca-Cola branded beverages, will be recyclable at these designated stations.
“We are thrilled to partner with Dow, a company that shares our dedication to sustainability,” said Mike Wattigny, Marketing Director of the Louisiana Marathon.
“By joining forces with both Abita Beer and Coca-Cola Bottling Co United, we are creating a powerful coalition dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact and promoting responsible waste management.”
Abita Beer, the Official Craft Beer of the Louisiana Marathon, will be serving its canned beers at the Visit Baton Rouge Finish Festival, providing an opportunity for attendees to utilize the Dow recycling stations.
“We’re excited to have Abita Beer back as our Official Craft Beer,” added Wattigny. “Their commitment to sustainability, alongside the support of Dow and Coca-Cola Bottling Co United, allows us to provide a truly responsible and enjoyable experience for our participants.”
Wes Heinlein, Louisiana Operations Site Leader at Dow, said “Dow is committed to advancing a circular economy and creating a more sustainable future.
“We’re proud to partner with the Louisiana Marathon, Abita Beer, and Coca-Cola Bottling Co United to promote recycling and environmental stewardship within the local community. By providing convenient and clearly marked recycling bins for both aluminium and plastic, we hope to make it easy for everyone to participate in this important effort.”
