The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), in partnership with World Triathlon, Visit Qatar, and the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, has unveiled the venue that will decide the 2025 Qatar T100 World Championship Final. The event will take place in Lusail, Qatar, on December 10-13, 2025.
The course will feature a 2km swim in the Arabian Gulf, an 80km bike ride through Lusail’s streets, and an 18km run through Lusail Plaza and Boulevard. The venue also highlights prominent landmarks such as Lusail Stadium, site of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final.
The weekend marks the culmination of the second T100 Triathlon World Tour season, with the PTO’s top male and female triathletes competing for the world championship title.
Sam Renouf, CEO of the PTO, said “The Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final is the pinnacle of our T100 season – the race where the entire year of hard work, dedication, and strategic planning comes down to a single, decisive weekend.”
He added “It’s not just about crowning the world champions; it’s about celebrating the sport of triathlon on the world stage. This Lusail venue provides the perfect backdrop for this, with its prominent waterfront, modern architecture, and energy that truly captures the excitement of a world-class multisport festival.”
The event weekend combines professional racing with opportunities for amateur athletes of varying abilities. PTO added that the series’ appeal was highlighted at the 2024 Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final, which saw almost 10,000 amateur athletes participate.
Participants can take part in the inaugural T100 Age Group World Championships, the 100km open-entry race, or the sprint-distance triathlon. The weekend will also include a youth triathlon, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
The event schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, December 10, 2025: Mass 5k/1km fun run for the local community and visiting athletes.
- Thursday, December 11, 2025: The event and fan village opens with dining, entertainment, and an expo across Lusail Plaza.
- Friday, December 12, 2025: The T100 professional races, awarding the 2025 World Championship title.
- Saturday, December 13, 2025: Amateur races including the T100 Age-Group World Championship, open-entry 100km, and sprint triathlon.
The T100 Triathlon World Tour spans nine races internationally. The Qatar final carries increased points, meaning performances here will have a decisive impact on the men’s and women’s world championship standings.
Athletes score 35 points for first place to 1 point for 20th place at each of the nine races in the T100 World Tour. The Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final has increased points to up the ante (55 pts down to 4 pts).
Each athlete’s best four T100 race scores plus the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will count towards the women’s and men’s T100 World Championship titles.
