Endurance athlete Jennifer Strong McConachie has released a new book ‘Go Multisport: Add Fun, Challenge & Exploration to Your World’. The book explores the benefits of combining sports, from ultra-distance and multi-day challenges, and how top athletes are finding multisport an answer for how to train at the highest level.
According to the author, multisport is a new frontier for extreme and endurance sports. From its beginnings in triathlon and adventure racing, multisport has grown to become a varied and rewarding way to get outdoors and get active while chasing world records in the harshest environments.
Go Multisport combines the stories of a pioneer in the field, Jennifer Strong McConachie, and her history in endurance sports with an overview of the ins and outs of multisport — how it came to be, human-powered multisport categories, and a look at what’s to come — along with anecdotes and insights from her own experiences.
Some of the claimed benefits of multisport include:
- Adding longevity as an athlete
- Avoiding overuse injuries
- Finding ways to get outside
- Being active even when life is full
- Attuning to complete health
The book’s author Jennifer Strong McConachie is an ultrarunner, mountaineer, marathon swimmer, distance paddler, and multisport athlete. An Outward Bound graduate, she is also a Fellow in the Royal Geographical Society and member of The Explorers Club. Her other works include ‘Go Far: How Endurance Sports Help You Win At Life.’
