Following a 2024 Eurobike Award-winning debut and appearances at key international cycling events, TRP and Classified are now releasing the Vistar // Powershift groupset to riders and dealers worldwide.
Billed as a breakthrough in drivetrain design, Vistar // Powershift combines TRP’s precision groupset engineering with Classified’s Powershift hub shifting technology.
The new groupset features QuantumShift to unlock 15 or 16 individual gears, and aiming to make shifting easier, smarter and more intuitive for road and gravel riders.
Priced at €2800 in Europe and $2900 in North America, Vistar // Powershift is available in 1×15 for gravel and 1×16 set-ups for road… ‘marking the widest gear range of any gravel or road bike groupset on the market.’
Based on a 12-speed cassette and a single chainring on the crankset, combined with the instant and under full load shiftable Classified Powershift Hub, the new groups effectively provides riders with 15 or 16 efficiently spread distinct gears, offering enhanced chainline efficiencies, under the rider’s fingertips.
Unlike traditional 2x drivetrains that rely on a front derailleur to move the chain between two chainrings, the Vistar // Powershift system uses QuantumShift technology to simultaneously shift the Powershift Hub (from 1:1 to 0.7 ratio) and the rear derailleur, smoothly delivering 15 or 16 individual gears.
QuantumShift coordinates the hub gear change with the rear derailleur to deliver gear sequencing and uninterrupted cadence… ‘unmatched by traditional 1x and 2x drivetrains, even under full pedalling load.’
TRP’s signature CMD ‘Command’ system features a wireless protocol for seamless communication between shifters, derailleurs, Powershift Hub and accessories. This technology provides consistent and fast shifting, while also allowing personal shifting preferences.
TRP and Classified add that, in the Vistar // Powershift system:
- Classified’s Powershift Hub replaces the front derailleur with a highly efficient 2-speed hub. It favours a larger chainring up front and provides instant shifting and higher drivetrain efficiencies in all gears compared to a standard set-up. It is the first groupset integration for Classified Powershift technology.
- Freedom of choice between QuantumShift and manual shifting. QuantumShift eliminates the need for complex double shifting by offering 15 or 16 intelligently sequenced gears.
- Those who prefer manual control can access all 24 gear combinations for maximum precision and flexibility.
- Advanced lever ergonomics ensure one-finger braking for all hand sizes, offering enhancing safety and control.
- Precision and performance is supported by the rear derailleur RD-G8000E – featuring a lightweight yet durable construction that delivers silent, instant engagement for a superior riding experience.
Paired with TRP’s braking technology, the Vistar // Powershift groupset delivers confident stopping power and refined modulation to complement the shifting performance.
The groupset’s rear derailleur is designed with a removable and rechargeable battery for added convenience and serviceability. To complement the groupset, Classified’s Aero Crankset (46T to 52T), and TRP’s Road (50T and 52T) and Gravel (44T to 48T) are available.
Finally, the monoblock steel TRP cassettes are engineered for optimal performance and durability, designed to integrate seamlessly with the Classified Powershift Hub.
The Vistar // Powershift system has already been used at elite gravel events such as Unbound, underscoring its performance and reliability claims in some of the most demanding conditions.
