National governing body British Triathlon has announced the athletes selected for its British Academy for the 2025–2026 season.
This new national squad has been designed to be smaller and more focused to provide enhanced support to 10 home-based youth and junior athletes as they work towards European and World Championship standards.
The British Academy programme aims to provide a high level of support for selected athletes. Depending on their current home coaching environment, athletes will either be fully coached by the academy or, for those with an existing triathlon coach, receive close support from their Regional Academy Lead. In all instances, the lead coach will work in collaboration with the Olympic Junior/Youth National Coach.
Athletes will be invited to bespoke national camps and competition opportunities throughout the year. They will also have access to a multi-disciplinary sports science and sports medicine team via the Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme (TASS), which is funded by Sport England.
Rick Velati, Olympic Junior/Youth National Coach for British Triathlon, said “The aim of the British Academy is to support athletes in the early stages of their career in the Olympic Pathway.
“Through a series of camps throughout the year, the athletes will gain an understanding of global performance standards while developing their individual physiological and technical profiles. Our goal is to foster a love of training and racing while giving athletes regular exposure to British Triathlon’s Olympic and Pathway Performance Centres.”

I’m looking forward to seeing them develop over the coming years with the hope that they will progress through the Olympic Pathway, and we will see them at future World Championships and Olympic Games.”

- Finlay Goodman (coached by Sarah Coope)
- Tom Mythen (coached by James Beckinsale)

- Sophie Richmond (coached by Sarah Coope)
South West region
- Reuben Wadey (coached by Jodie Swallow)
- Betsy North (coached by Jodie Swallow)
