Castelli unveils next generation of its best-selling Espresso range

Castelli has refreshed its apparel offering with the launch of the Espresso 2 collection. Building on two years of rider feedback, the apparel firm notes that the second generation of the range features a more precise fit, refined fabrics, and an expanded colourway palette.

Based in Fonzaso, Italy, Castelli is a performance cycling apparel brand. It notes that the new collection prioritises all-day comfort for cyclists through intuitive design tweaks and the use of Italian-made technical textiles.

The Espresso 2 Jersey – available in both long and short sleeve options – continues to be crafted from Air_0 Stretch fabric. This material is developed with high horizontal elasticity for a stretch fit, while limiting vertical stretch to support back pockets.

The 105g/m² open knit fabric is designed to be light and airy while providing UPF 30 sun protection to block 97% of UV rays. The women’s jersey features a slightly longer back panel for an improved fit and easier pocket access, while the men’s version has received minor adjustments to its silhouette.

Both versions include repositioned tone-on-tone logos and a wider selection of colours designed for mixing and matching.

The Espresso 2 DT Bibshort for women has undergone a significant restyling. A new, higher-waist construction utilises lightweight mesh to support the mid-section. Additionally, a revised Drop Tail and bib straps with increased stretch allow for mid-ride breaks without the need to remove upper layers.

Updates to the men’s bibshorts include softer elastic bib straps and a raised waistline for a more supportive fit. Both models include raw-cut leg endings with silicone grippers and the Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad.

The shorts utilise Espresso Doppio fabric, which has a 27% Lycra content to provide a soft feel and a matte finish.

Steve Smith, Global Brand Manager at Castelli, said “Espresso became our best-selling kit because it got the fundamentals right: all-day comfort and every day performance for everything except for race days.

“But staying still isn’t in our nature. With Espresso 2, we went back through every detail – the fit of the jersey, the construction on the shorts, and the bib strap fabrics, and looked for every opportunity to make it better.”

Smith added “This collection is designed to be the go-to option for cyclists to wear every day apart from when they’re racing, and we wanted to make sure reaching for it is the easiest decision you make before a ride.”

The core Espresso 2 range is supported by a matching long-sleeve jersey, vest, gloves, socks, and cap.

  • The Espresso 2 Jersey is available in 10 colourways, including Mango Mojito, Clay, and Belgian Blue, with a recommended retail price of US$160.00 (£135.00 / €130.00).
  • The Espresso 2 Bibshort is offered in eight colourways for men and six for women, with a recommended retail price of US$200.00 (£185.00 / €180.00).
