Zone3 is official wetsuit sponsor of The Henley Swim Series

Zone3, the fast-moving wetsuit and triathlon brand, has today confirmed that it is the official wetsuit sponsor of The Henley Swim Series in the UK, which includes the Henley Classic, The Henley Mile, The Bridge to Bridge and The Queenford Relays.

As official wetsuit sponsor, Zone3 will be providing its 2012 Aspire wetsuit to winners of the events. The company notes that the Aspire wetsuit has received ‘enormous support from the open-water and triathlon community and has been awarded 10/10s in reviews.’

Worn by novices and professionals alike, the Aspire combines some of the key features that make Zone3 so popular. Overall, the Zone3 Aspire ‘gives a better performance, all over-flexibility and comfort, for a fraction of the cost of other comparable wetsuits.’

Zone3 will also provide the wetsuit hire of its newly launched entry-level wetsuit, the Advance, for all participants of the Henley Swim Series events. The Advance is positioned as the only performance wetsuit with an RRP of under £100.

Jeremy Laming, co-founder of The Henley Swim Series said, “We are excited to have Zone3 on-board as the official wetsuit sponsor. We have decided to work with Zone3 as its suits offer unparalleled quality, giving you more bang for your buck. As a British brand, Zone3 has a lot to offer and we look forward to awarding our winners their Aspire wetsuits.”

James Lock, founder of Zone3 added, “As a triathlete and a keen open-water swimmer, providing first-class events like the Henley Swim Series with support, and getting more people involved in the sport, lies at the heart of our philosophy. There is nothing more exhilarating than open water swimming and we hope all participants have fantastic time.”

Zone3 is a British sports product company started by elite triathlete James Lock whilst at Loughborough University. All of its products are designed and developed in the UK. The company prides itself on ‘listening to its loyal customers who have helped develop new exciting products focused on performance, design and quality for the price point.’

Since 2008 when Zone3 was born, the brand has gone from strength to strength and has reportedly seen a 500% increase in year-on-year growth. Zone3 is starting to turn its cult following in the UK triathlon industry more mainstream and is now gaining interest from a number of larger retailers and overseas distributors.

The Henley Swim started in 1994 when two friends and ex-rowers (Jeremy Laming & Tom Kean) decided they would like to swim the course they had rowed down so many times previously. To avoid the regatta traffic they decided to swim it at sunrise. Once they had recovered from the fact that sunrise was 04:30, they were treated to the Henley course like no-one had ever seen it before! Part of the appeal of the race is the dead straight, point-to-point 2.1K route, and the fact that spectators can be close in on the action all the way to the finish.

Year on year the Henley Swim has increased in popularity, and this year will be staging a world-class elite category within the event. In recent years the Henley Swim team have also developed a number of new swim events, focusing on innovative and inspirational open water swim racing, including the 14K Bridge to Bridge event and the Queenford Relays.
