The Encap Arran Triathlon 2011, billed as the largest triathlon in Scotland and set on the stunning island of Arran, has been given a boost with an article in UK national newspaper the Daily Telegraph.
Taking place on 10 September 2011, the Encap Arran Triathlon 2011 has a capacity of around 2,000 participants.
According to the race organisers, tickets will go on sale early in 2011, but pre-registration is strongly recommended as tickets are likely to sell out quickly.
According to the Daily Telgraph, 10 years ago the last triathlon on the island attracted just 30 entrants, while around 300 people have already pre-registered for the Encap sponsored event.
The standard distance course in Arran will feature a 1.5K swim in Lamlash Bay, a 23-mile (37K) bike course across the island and a six mile (10K) run along the waterfront.
As noted by the Telegraph article, Triathlonscotland, the national governing body, now has more than 2,500 members, 43 clubs and 9,000 participants across the country.
