London Calling for World Triathlon Expo!

Running alongside the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final and Age-Group World Championships – the five day World Triathlon Expo takes place on 11-15 September 2013 in Hyde Park, London.

Unlike last year, where the London 2012 Olympics had more limited commercial opportunities for endemic and non-endemic sponsor brands, in 2013 the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final is gearing up to fully celebrate and spread the word about triathlon.

PruHealth is already on board as title sponsor of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final; and other sponsor partners for the event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Engaging on the ground
Endemic multisport industry brands can be a part of the event either through a raft of direct sponsorship opportunities or by taking a stand at the World Triathlon Expo. Situated in Hyde Park, at the heart of the action and as a major thoroughfare for race registration, the World Triathlon Expo enables multisport brands to engage directly with thousands of keen triathletes and their friends & families.

The Grand Final of the International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series (ITU WTS) will be a major event, putting London once again on the global sporting map. 2013 is the fourth time an event of the ITU WTS will be staged in London, but the first time that London has hosted the Grand Final.

The world is watching
As UK Sport’s first major legacy event on the London 2012 Triathlon Course – the televised event will showcase triathlon to the eyes of the world. The event will be staged from 11-15 September. Each day World Championship titles will be awarded in age group and elite categories – with the ultimate crowning of the 2013 ITU World Champions.

On the ground, the Grand Final will see 7,500 of some of the world‘s most enthusiastic triathletes coming to London for an estimated average duration of six days. 4,000 international athletes are expected, competing alongside 1,000 British athletes for the World Championship titles in their age group categories. The Open Age Group Race on Saturday will see a further 2,500 public competitors, ranging from novice to experienced.

Tapping into heightened media interest into the battle between the Brownlees and rival elite triathletes such as Javier Gomez, the expo will also appeal to thousands of spectators – who will be curious about the sport of triathlon and keen to find out more.

The Olympics saw 300,000 spectators gathering in Hyde Park. While the 2013 London Grand Final might not achieve these numbers, the organisers are still expecting 50,000 spectators per day – with 250,000 to 300,000 projected over race week.
