Swimming in a castle lake, cycling through beautiful castle grounds and running through the finishing line in the castle gardens is the very essence of the Markel Castle Triathlon Series weekend events. Now athletes can imagine an evening camp fire, sleeping in the castle grounds and waking up outside the moat ready for their race.
For the first time ever, The Markel Castle Triathlon Series has confirmed that competitors can ‘glamp’ within the iconic castle grounds at its events in the UK and France. Glamping packages are available at: Castle Howard (21 July), Château de Chantilly (26 August) and Hever Castle Triathlon (28/29 September).
Glamping is a simple combination of ‘Glamour’ and ‘Camping’. This year competitors can simply turn up at the castle event to find a luxury canvas tent prepared for their arrival. The specially designed tents are fabulously dressed with the ‘Camping with Soul’ accessory range including luxury inflatable mattresses, hand loomed rugs, coir door mats for muddy boots and shoes, a tea light candle chandelier (for light and warmth), low level hand painted tables and optional 100% Egyptian cotton bedding, 13.5 tog duvets and fluffy bath towels.
The organisers note that luxury and comfort has to be a natural reward after taking part in a triathlon, surely? It all adds to the growing festival atmosphere that the series is offering competitors and spectators.

- Standard Package (5 metre by 3 metre) sleeping 4-6 people – £330
- Classic Package (4 metre by 3 metre) sleeping up to 3 people – £370
- Classic Package (5 metre by 3 metre) sleeping 4-6 people – £425
The glamping accommodation is ideal for groups of friends, families or couples looking for something out of the ordinary. The provider Hotel Bell Tent, is already well known in the festival circuit for providing accommodation for celebrities at Glastonbury and Bestival music festivals, amongst others.
Castle Triathlon athletes can simply book, turn up, check in and leave all the hard work to the organisers – giving more time to explore the event, take in the atmosphere and get some much needed rest & relaxation, with no stress and no wasted time setting up camp.
