Orca and Compressport work together to tighten hold on compression market

The Orca triathlon brand is incorporating compression technology from Swiss compression specialist Compressport into a new Orca range of products. The new Orca apparel will focus on delivering better post-training recovery for athletes.

An Orca spokesperson confirmed that the new products, “Are Orca branded; and are developed and manufactured with the support of CompressSport and its technologies.”

The Orca range with ‘Compressport technology inside’ will be available in 2014. There will be a number of key products: quads, compression socks, compression full socks, calf sleeves and arm sleeves. This full range available in 2014 will be used and tested this season by Orca’s top athletes:

  • Courtney Atkinzon (AUS) 70.3 Cebu winner
  • Sebastian Kienle (GER) 70.3 World Champion
  • Asa Lundström (SWE) 1st Ironman Lake Tahoe
  • Albert Moreno (ESP) 2nd 70.3 Pas d´Aix
  • Matt Sharp (UK) U23 world champion 2011

Orca was born in New Zealand in 1992 ‘with the vision of creating elite triathlon clothing and wetsuits to enable people to perform to the best of their ability, to interact with the environment.’ In 2013, Orca created a new campaign called ‘Iron Minds’ (www.theironminds.com), showing the attitude and resilience of multisport athletes.

As displayed in the video of Sebastian Kienle, the campaign has also defined the culture and strength of what it means to be in endurance sport, and also ‘the direction Orca is taking as a leading brand in this industry.’

Orca is part of the Orbea family – with Orbea and Orca reaching an agreement in 2011 for Spanish Orbea to acquire Orca’s ‘operation rights in the triathlon and compression area.’

Orbea in turn is part of the Mondragón Cooperative Corporation and is Spain’s largest bicycle operator.
