After another sell-out year in 2013, Human Race has confirmed that the 2014 Windsor Triathlon has also sold out. With more than 3,000 triathletes set to take part, 2014 will be the biggest year in the event’s illustrious 23 year history.
The event is part of the British Triathlon Super Series and attracts participants from all over the UK and from abroad. Given that the route for the triathlon takes in the sights of Windsor Castle and the historic town centre, the course for Windsor Triathlon is famed for its stunning backdrop.
Taking place next year on Sunday 15 June, as always the 2014 Windsor Triathlon will see elite men and women compete to take the coveted crown. Last year the male winner was Tom Bishop and Emma Pallant won the women’s category.
Despite the Windsor Triathlon being sold out for individual places in 2014, the event’s gold tier charity partner, Scope has a number of charity places still available. For just £20 and a pledge to raise £350 for the vital work that Scope do with disabled people and their families, those wishing to take part can find themselves on the start line come next June.
Anyone who decides to take part for Scope will not only be raising money for a worthy cause, but will also receive: their choice of an exclusive Scope team running vest or t-shirt, support on the day from the Scope cheering squad, a fundraising pack and regular tips, encouragement and motivation by email.
As the silver tier charity partner for the Windsor Triathlon, CLIC Sargent also has places available.
With both Sprint (750m swim, 30K bike, 5K run) and Olympic (1.5K swim, 42K bike, 10K run) distances having sold out, the only other way to get involved in 2014 (besides charity places) is by entering in a team relay. The event is suited to all abilities and the relay can take place over either the Sprint or Olympic distance.
The format of the Windsor Triathlon relay is simple – each team consists of three team members, who each compete for their team in one of the three triathlon disciplines only.
The event village, facilities and a race route lined with thousands of cheering local residents, friends and family make the Windsor Triathlon a must-do for any triathlon enthusiast. Added to that, the event has been televised on Channel 4 for the past few years meaning that competitors can truly feel a part of the professional experience, as cameramen on motorbikes film the unfolding action.
