Rick Kiddle, former British Triathlon Champion and one of the first ever triathlete-to-triathlon coaches in Britain, has taken on long distance triathlete Amy Kilpin in a new coaching partnership.
Amy is a British long distance triathlete with longer term aspirations to turn pro, and has already qualified for the European Long Distance Triathlon Championships 2014 where she will represent Great Britain in her age group.
Having only started triathlon in 2012, Amy has come a long way in just two seasons of competing, culminating in a strong age group position at Ironman UK and the Olympic distance Open race at the ITU World Triathlon Championships in London. She has also hit the podium at a few local races this year.
Rick will be working very closely with Amy to develop her into the 2014 season and beyond. He recognises a natural ability in Amy as well as relentless determination and enthusiasm, which should see her succeed in her triathlon goals.
As Amy is based only 10 minutes away from Rick’s coaching premises, where he boasts an endless pool and around 15 power bikes, the frequency of one-to-one sessions will set Amy up with a strong opportunity for consistent development and improvement, steered attentively by Rick’s wealth of expertise.
Rick has a somewhat legendary status in the triathlon world. After competing in the World and European Championships and Commonwealth Games he became one of the first national triathlon coaches in Great Britain. Not only is Rick an established BTF Level 3 coach he is also a tutor and assessor for BTF (British Triathlon Federation).
He introduced spinning to the UK in 1996 and set up Heart Zones UK Ltd in 2002, now a basis of all heart rate zone training. In 2010 Rick launched the National Open Water Coaching Association (NOWCA) with Martin Allen, coaching the coaches. He offers premium triathlon coaching via his business RKC.
Amy meanwhile has a host of other sponsors who are supporting her journey towards professional triathlon:
