The Oulton Park Spring Duathlon is back for 2014, taking place on Sunday 16 March at the famous UK motor racing circuit in Cheshire and featuring both a sprint and a standard distance race. The Oulton Park Spring Duathlon is also a qualifier for the 2014 ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships to be held in Pontevedra, Spain, and it attracts elite, amateur and novice racers.
The standard distance race incorporates a 8.6K run (2 laps) followed by a 38.8K cycle (9 laps) and a final run lap of 4.3K, totalling 51.7 K. Sprint distance competitors start with a 4.3K run (1 lap), followed by a 21.6K cycle (5 laps) and a final run lap of 4.3K, covering a total distance of 30.2K. Lap counting technology is in place to ensure that all competitors complete the correct number of laps.
The Oulton Park Spring Duathlon is held at one of the UK’s finest motor racing circuits and offers many unique features including the mass start on the starting grid, transition in the pits and a traffic free race track. The banked hairpin and the track’s super smooth tarmac offer up a fast and unique racing experience for all competitors, along with excellent spectating opportunities.
Entry costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for team relay entries, including numbered racking and electronic chip timing. The start times are 09.30 and 12.30 depending on age group, and the prize giving takes place after the race.
Registration to the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon is open at www.xtramileevents.com and places are filling fast.
The organisers have also confirmed that entries to the Oulton Park Autumn Duathlon, which takes place on 5 October 2014 and is a qualifier for both the 2015 ETU Standard and Sprint Distance Duathlon European Championships, are open.
Xtra Mile Events also organises the brand new ASICS Oulton Park Half Marathon & 10K on 23 February 2014. This is positioned as a great event to kick start the season and use as a training ground for all spring races. Places for the 10K and the half marathon are currently still available.
