The ITU Pan American Triathlon Confederation (PATCO) is currently seeking a triathlon High Performance Coach/Manager. The position’s main responsibility is managing and developing high performance teams, athletes and coaches from the Americas with potential to win medals at major championships and Olympic Games.

- Reports to – PATCO Executive Board and Athletes & Coaches Coordinator
- Key interface – Performance Athletes, Performance Assistant Coaches, Performance Staff and Sports Ministry Staff
- Job based at – High Performance Center – Cuenca, Ecuador (The position includes lodging & meals in the Center.)
- Salary – USD 35,000.00 per annum
Key responsibilities
- Manage the teams based at the Cuenca High Performance Center through setting, monitoring, reviewing and adjusting performance objectives of athletes and coaches
- Work as the Cuenca High Performance Center Triathlon Manager with administrative duties
- Coordinate the integration of Sports Science and Sports Medicine service to athletes and coaches
- Develop and deliver the annual strategic and operational plans for athlete and coach development
- Manage and coordinate coaching education programs for regional National Federations as part of PATCO development projects
- Contribute as a consultant member for the high performance management group on the overall planning/delivery of the performance program
- Promote a coaching and training environment that supports satisfaction in the pursuit of excellence

- Effective management and development of high performance athletes through achievable planned goals for major championships and Games
- Effective management and development of coaches through tutoring and monitoring individual and team work programs
- An overall sustainable infrastructure as a performance pathway that delivers continuous development of high performance athletes and coaches for the Panamerican region focusing on Major Championships and Games
Qualifications
- Higher Degree in Sports Science
- Higher International Level Triathlon Coaching Qualification
Knowledge
- Proper understanding of sports science in elite athlete preparation
- Proper understanding of the requirements for high performance in triathlon
- Proper understanding of long-term athlete development
Experience
- Substantial elite sport coaching background
- Significant high performance major championships and/or Games coaching background
- Significant high performance coach tutoring background
- Considerable high performance management background
Skills
- Spanish language at a fluent spoken and written level
- English language at a satisfactory spoken and written level
- Ability to coordinate activities with groups of athletes and coaches, with good engagement from both
- Leadership through group and self-management
- Decision maker by clear thinking, with logical and dynamic abilities to apply pragmatic solutions to everyday activities
