Xtra Mile Events, the organiser of the Wilmslow Triathlon, which takes place in the Cheshire town on Sunday 11 May 2014, has confirmed that places to the hugely popular sprint distance triathlon are selling fast. Those interested in booking a place in the eighth outing for the popular event in North West England are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
The Wilmslow Triathlon also kicks off the Xtra Mile Events Tri Sprint Series 2014, with the Buxton Triathlon (15 June 2014), Leeds Xpress Triathlon (27 July 2014), Macclesfield Triathlon (3 August 2014) and South Manchester Triathlon (21 September 2014) also being part of the series. Competitors can of course take part in the Wilmslow Triathlon as a single event.
Sponsors of the Wilmslow Triathlon 2014 include Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative (Official Bicycle Retail Partner), Starley Bikes (Official Specialist Bike Brand), Clif Bar (Official Sports Nutrition Partner), Zone3 (Official Wetsuit Partner), Aftershokz (Official Headphone Partner), Up & Running (Official Sports Retail Partner) and Athlete Matters (Official Physio and Rehab Partner).
Following a record-breaking year in 2013 with around 600 finishers and a strong presence from triathlon clubs across the region, the Wilmslow Triathlon continues to grow.
Based at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, the 400m swim takes place in the 5 lane 25m indoor pool. The transition area as well as the start and finish are on the local cricket pitch. The picturesque, mainly flat 24.2K cycle ride takes the competitors around the Cheshire countryside; and the 6.3K run goes around East Wilmslow’s leafy roads, a mostly flat route with some inclines near the River Bollin.
The Wilmslow Triathlon has been consistently growing in size and popularity over the last few years, attracting novices, experienced and elite triathletes alike. Event costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for relay team entries, including numbered racking, electronic chip timing and ‘an excellent goody bag’.
The prize giving takes place after the event, with prizes awarded in the following categories: overall winners (male and female), male and female age groups, relay team prize, club prize (first 3 athletes from the same club) and novice prize.
Entries close on 7 May 2014 or when sold out.
