Getting up to speed with 2014 EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon

After an expanded experience for athletes and spectators alike in July 2013, the organisers of the iconic 9th EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, taking place in July 2014, have released a series of training programs for all participating athletes.

The 2014 EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon will offer up a whole week of races and activities, taking place from 27-31 July 2014.

The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon was originally founded by Cyrille Neveu – a former elite triathlete and member of the French National Triathlon Team from 1996 to 2008. The training program was created by Cyrille Neuveu and Stéphane Logerot to help all registered athletes meet the challenge of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon.

Neveu now works as a consultant with major French TV station Canal+, on all triathlon coverage by the channel. He launched the first edition of the EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon in 2006 – and for the last five years he has been developing the event with international sports marketing group and major event organising firm IMG.

The organisers of the EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon note that the event is becoming a real festival of triathlon, attracting more and more event partners – with more than 20 partners present in 2013 at the Exhibition Village.

The organisers also point out that the EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon has been developed around a real service ethos, not only toward the athlete, but also towards all participants and staff that come to enjoy this friendly and athletic week.

The triathlon festival in the Central French Alps aims to offer athletes ‘a rich program with official races, activities for all and an even fuller exhibition village.’ Overseas athletes will also be present in large numbers, as in previous years, in order to experience the unique suite of races designed in the outstanding Oisans Valley in France.
