Now gearing up for its fourth edition, the Sailfish Half Triathlon Berga in Spain has welcomed Sands Beach Active as its new co-presenting sponsor. As a result, the event will be known as the Sailfish Half-Triatló de Berga 2014 by Sands Beach Active.
Taking place on 14 September 2014 in Berga, Spain, the event continues with support from German wetsuit brand Sailfish, which is ‘increasing its position in the Spanish market as a reference brand.’
The latest sponsor co-partnership shows a renewed commitment by Sands Beach Active, a key destination in Lanzarote, Spain, for triathletes across Europe and beyond. As co-presenter, Sands Beach Active will offer participants the opportunity to win stays at its resort, free registrations to the Lanzarote International Marathon and ‘other advantages soon-to-be revealed’.
With on-going cross-promotions, the agreement also strengthens the participation of Sands Beach Active athletes at Sailfish-Berga. Additionally, the event gains increased international visibility through the resort’s affiliates.
The fourth outing for Sailfish-Berga strives to offer participants and their companions ‘a unique weekend experience in an idyllic environment for outdoor sports and cultural tourism.’ The event takes place in and around Berga, capital of the Berguedà County (a 1 hour 10 mins drive from Barcelona).

For many athletes in Spain and across Europe, Berga is the triathlon event that concludes a season of training. While for others, it is also positioned as a unique opportunity to prepare for a longer-distance triathlon. As noted by the organisers, ‘the race has succeeded in positioning itself as the best triathlon in Spain for mid to long distance athletes.’
The Sailfish-Berga by Sands Beach Active distances are: 1.9K swim, 90K bike and 21K run. The swim leg takes place at the Baells Reservoir (Pantà de la Baells); the bike segment winds around Berguedà County and the run finishes within the town of Berga.
The event is organised by Dual Grups with the collaboration of the Club Triatló Berga and the support of Berga City Hall, Tourism of the Berguedà, the Berga Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Hostelry and Tourism of Berga, the Barcelona Province Council and the Catalan Water Agency.
It’s an official event of the Catalan Federation of Triathlon and is listed as such on its 2014 calendar of races.
