Sugoi – a premium brand within the Apparel Footwear Group division of Dorel Industries (owner of the Cannondale bike brand) – has unveiled its new autumn/fall 2011 collection. According to Sugoi, the new collection is designed to get runners outside counting the miles, instead of inside, counting the days.
Billed as being ‘functionally intuitive’ and made with breathable and moisture wicking fabrics, Sugoi’s performance outerwear apparel is made to move with the body, with practical designs that provide protection in this year’s autumn/fall weather conditions.
Sugoi’s outerwear collection includes a complete range of protection options for whatever the climate or sport dictates. With wind, rain and thermal barriers for mild climates and transitional seasons to the most severe winter conditions, Sugoi’s outerwear aims to provide comfort, warmth and dryness.
The Sugoi Event Jacket has ‘waterproof breathability’ that ensures you won’t get wet from the rain and thanks to its intelligent design, you won’t get wet from sweat either. The jacket is positioned as a ‘benchmark for waterproof breathable protection with full eVent construction and elite detailing for waterproof breathable protection.’
Sugoi’s Event fabric features a unique membrane, which gives the necessary breathability performance; allowing hot sweat vapours from within to escape quickly while repelling wind and rain from the outside.
Sugoi has added to the popular Firewall range for autumn/fall 2011, with the Firewall 180 Zip. The Firewall 180 has powerful windproof protection, stretch thermal mobility and performance details. Sugoi’s proprietary Firewall fabrication is a windproof, waterproof barrier with minimal bulk. Like its Firewall 220 Zip counterpart, the 180 provides a 4-way stretch to help cheat the wind with conforming, unrestricted profiles.
As with the Firewall 220 Zip Jacket, for the Firewall 220 Tight, Sugoi uses a softshell fabric featuring a three layer construction comprised of knitted fabric with a breathable polyurethane membrane. The fabric provides a full range of motion stretch and comfort. With full windproof frontal protection for cold weather running, the Firewall 220 tight will keep the cold out whilst being a comfortable fit.
Also new for 2011 is the RPM Jacket, Pant and thermal Jacket series. This versatile, value packed waterproof breathable performance jacket is for the commute or the trail, whether running or biking.
Sugoi FinoCarbon base-layer garments boast a functional stretch that allows for comfort and freedom of movement. The fabrication fights bacterial build up from sweat produced by the body during aerobic activity – while the brushed underside of the fabric serves to move excess moisture away from the body, which increases comfort and enhances performance for the wearer.
FinoCarbon fabric is a double jersey knit made with a PPT (1,3-propylene terephthalate) yarn that provides a 360 degree ‘Lycra-free’ stretch for complete freedom of movement. 50 denier polyester yarns keep the garment light weight; carbon fibres provide the anti-bacterial quality desired in base layer performance apparel. The underside of the fabric is ‘brushed’ for softness and thermal insulation.
The popular and award winning Race+Recovery (R+R) Compression product line is centred on the Piston fabric technology. This is a tight warp knit polyamide based material with a high stretch modulus, which claims the lowest weight per square inch that is available for compression.
Combined with the company’s propietary PowerKnit process, 3D ergo fit panel Zone Construction and using an ultrafine 36-gauge knitting process, Piston claims exceptional performance and recovery benefits.
The super-light Piston 140 is used for upper-body garments, while the denser Piston 200 makes up lower-body garments, including calf guards. The R+R line provides performance benefits to athletes over a range of sports including running, triathlon, cycling and more. According to Sugoi, the benefits of R+R Compression can be felt in training, during a race, and in recovery.
