American professional road racing cyclist and two-time Olympian, Christian Vande Velde, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for the second annual Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium and Expo, which takes place on 24 January 2015 in Richmond, Virginia.
Tidewater Physical Therapy and its Tidewater Performance Centers have announced that Christian Vande Velde has joined the line-up of keynote speakers. Vande Velde will speak on ‘Life in the Pro Peloton’ and will take questions from the audience.
The Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium and Expo is billed as a day of motivation and education on 24 January 2015 at The Westin in Richmond. The event is sponsored by Tidewater Physical Therapy and Tidewater Performance to benefit Richmond 2015 and the Brain Injury Association of Virginia.
American professional road racing cyclist and two-time Olympian, Christian Vande Velde joins an already seasoned roster of keynote speakers, who will take to the stage at the Richmond Westin to motivate, educate and inspire the more than 500 attendees expected to attend.
Joining Vande Velde are Hunter Allen, a top expert in coaching endurance athletes using power meters and a former professional cyclist;
Andy Potts, who competed on the US Olympic Triathlon Team in 2004, won the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2007 and is the 6 time winner of Escape from Alcatraz triathlon; and
Bob Seebohar, a nationally recognized High Performance Triathlon Coach who currently consults as a sport dietician for the US Sailing and the USA Triathlon National Teams.
The cost to attend the event, which includes lunch, is US$30 for students, US$45 for military members, US$75 for USA Triathlon (USAT) Coaches and US$50 for adults. Prices increase on 10 January 2015.
Five Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits are available for USAT Coaches who attend. Type II CEUs are available for physical therapists who attend. A Certificate of Attendance will be available from the organisers.
Proceeds from the Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium and Expo will benefit The Richmond 2015 Project and The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV).
Husband, father and cyclist, Vande Velde has experienced worldwide success throughout his cycling career. After winning five national track championships and the World Cup overall in the Individual Pursuit in 1997, Vande Velde became a professional cyclist in 1998.
He is an American professional road-racing cyclist and two-time Olympian, who also took first place overall in the 2006 Tour of Luxembourg and road for the USPS Team in 1999 and 2001. Now retired, Vande Velde is an analyst for NBC cycling.
