PNC Bank announced as new presenting sponsor of LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh

IRONMAN has announced PNC Bank as the new presenting sponsor for the LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh triathlon taking place on 31 May 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

PNC will set up interactive games and activities for visitors of the IRONMAN Village throughout race weekend. Fans will be able to create personalized cheer cards to show their support for friends and family members participating in the race. Visitors to the PNC tent can also compete in a stationary bike challenge to win prizes. On race day, the PNC ‘Street Team’ will roam throughout the race venue giving out athletic gear to spectators and participants.

“We are excited about the tremendous economic activity this event will bring to downtown Raleigh and the region,” said Jim Hansen, PNC regional president, Eastern Carolinas. “We look forward to interacting with participants and fans, and to spotlighting Raleigh as a premier destination for major athletic events.”

One of the ‘most charming’ races on the IRONMAN 70.3 race circuit, the LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh triathlon presented by PNC is an ideal event for both athletes and their spectators. Since it first began in 2013, it has developed into a source of pride for Raleigh and each year the event enjoys continued growth and support from the community.

“We are thrilled to have PNC as the presenting sponsor of LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh,” said Carola Ross, Chief Sales Officer for IRONMAN. “As one of our most popular IRONMAN 70.3 events, we look forward to working together to offer athletes an unforgettable race experience.”

Athletes will begin their day with a 1.2 mile swim in Jordan Lake in Chatham County. The 56 mile bike course will take athletes through rural Chatham and Wake Counties before entering downtown Raleigh to transition to the run. The two-loop, 13.1 mile run course winds through downtown, around the Capital Building, out Hillsborough Street, and through the North Carolina State University campus before heading down Fayetteville Street for a finish in City Plaza.

LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh presented by PNC offers a US$50,000 professional prize purse and 30 age-group qualifying slots to the 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, taking place in Zell am See-Kaprun, SalzburgerLand, Austria on 30 August 2015.
