YMCA Healthy Living Center is USAT certified

The YMCA Healthy Living Center in Clive, Iowa, has met the rigorous requirements of National Governing Body USA Triathlon (USAT) to be named the nation’s sixth USA Triathlon Certified Training Center.

Located in the heart of the western suburbs of Des Moines, Iowa, the YMCA Healthy Living Center is a cutting-edge facility that brings a new approach to health, healing and healthy living to the community.

“We are excited to have added the YMCA Healthy Living Center to USA Triathlon’s line-up of Certified Training Centers,” said USA Triathlon Coaching Specialty Manager Angie Murphy. “This facility will offer our members, coaches and athletes state-of-the-art equipment, performance testing and access to USA Triathlon certified coaches.”

The YMCA Healthy Living Center offers a full performance lab utilising New Leaf Metabolic testing with the ability to perform resting metabolic rate tests and VO2 max testing via run or bike. Lactate threshold testing is available using Lactate Pro equipment.

Athletes have access to a 25-yard dedicated lap pool, as well as an exercise pool and therapy pool with underwater treadmill. The facility has also has a multi-level spin room, treadmills, strength training equipment and men’s and women’s specific hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas.

The Iowa based facility offers top-of-the-line services such as sports nutrition consultation, bike fitting, video analysis, sports massage and physical therapy. USA Triathlon certified coaches are on hand at the facility and available to multisport athletes of all levels.

An affiliate of the YMCA Healthy Living Center, Zoom Performance and its coaches will provide USA Triathlon annual members and coaches a 20% discount on its one-on-one services. The YMCA Healthy Living Center will also provide two free passes per USA Triathlon annual member on an annual basis.

Individualised and group triathlon training programs are offered for novice to elite athletes through the facility. Also weekly workouts are open to all triathletes in the community.

“Along with our partner Zoom Performance, we are very excited to receive this certification and bring a new level of services to the triathlon community in the region,” said Executive Director of the YMCA Healthy Living Center Jeremy Dyvig.

“Zoom Performance’s coaches have been serving triathletes with the highest quality of service for the past five years through customized training programs, testing, analysis and bike fits,” added Matt Zepeda, owner of Zoom Performance.

“Through our partnership with the YMCA Healthy Living Center and its Certified Training Center designation, we are better equipped to help athletes reach their goals.”
